Palo Alto is a city that is located in Santa Clara County, California. The city of Palo Alto is located in the San Francisco Bay Area and it covers an area of about 25.7 square miles. It is the headquarters of some silicon valley high tech companies such as Hewlett Packard (HP), IDEO, Ning and Tesla Motors just to name a few.

The city was founded by Leland Stanford, after he had established the Stanford University, which he did in remembrance of his son. There were two townships in the city, Mayfield and Palo Alto. They merged in 1925.

Presently, Palo Alto has some of the most educated residents in America, and it is one of the most expensive cities in the US. The city has also served an incubatory role for companies such as Apple, Inc., PayPal, Google, Facebook, Intuit, Logitech and Sun Microsystems just to name a few.

They include YouTube Co-Founder Jawed Karim, Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin, Yahoo Co-Founder David Filo, WikiHow Founder Jack Herrick, Facebook Co-Founder Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO and Co-Founder Larry Page as well as Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs. Former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and many scientists, politicians, entertainers as well as sports personalities live there as well.
