Coppell is a city that is located in Dallas County, Texas with a population of approximately 39,000 residents.  A very small portion of the northern part of the city extends in to Denton County.  The city has an area of 14.7 square miles.   

Coppell was originally settled by French and German immigrants in the 1840's. and was named Gibb's Station.  It was renamed Coppell in 1892 after George Coppell who was supposedly heavily involved in the construction of the local railroad.  The city was incorporated in 1955 and was transformed from a tiny village to a large upper-middle class community during the 1980's and 1990's.  By the year 2000, almost all the residential land was developed and the population had grown to over 35,000 residents.
