Lancaster is a city that is located in Dallas County, Texas with a population of approximately 36,500 residents and is a suburb of Dallas.  Most of Lancaster is in Dallas County, however, a section in the southern portion of the city is in Ellis County.  Most of this area is unoccupied land.  The city is 30.3 square miles in total area.

Lancaster was founded in 1852 and in 1866 was one of the first communities in Dallas County to be incorporated.  In February of 1934, Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker (Bonnie & Clyde) robbed the R.P. Henry & Sons Bank in the town square.  Clyde robbed the bank of over $4,000 while Bonnie drove the getaway car.  

Lancaster was a finalist for the All-American City Award in both 2005 and in 2006.  It was also designated as Tree City USA in 2007 by the National Arbor Day Foundation.
