J.O. "Otto" Schulze and Otis Brown founded Irving in 1903.  Irving has had a few name changes in its history.  In 1889 it was called Gorbit and was then called Kit in 1894.  The city was incorporated in April of 1914 and Otis Brown was the very first mayor.  Growth was slow and sometimes came to an almost complete stop.  In 1925 there were only 357 residents.  However, in the 1930's a significant increase in population began.  By the 1960's the population had grown significantly due in part to manufacturing plants operating in the area and the opening of the University of Dallas.

We have found resources to help you out in your wedding planning.  To have a stress free wedding, you may want to consider using Nishel Events by Design as your wedding planner.  This will relieve quite a bit of pressure and help in marking off items on your wedding checklist. One of the best wedding venues is the Venetian Terrace. They can host your wedding ceremony, reception or even the bridal shower and/or rehearsal and dinner.  They are truly a one-stop-shop for all your wedding needs. Before the big day, you will need to shop for your wedding bands.  Gold N Carats has an excellent selection to choose from.

Be sure to take a break and visit some of the area's attractions such as The Mustangs of Las Colinas and the National Scouting Museum.  It will be well worth your time and, most likely, a much needed distraction before your big day.
