Desoto City is located in Dallas County, 14 miles from Dallas. It is considered part of the "Best Southwest" area, which also consists of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, and Lancaster.

Desoto was first settled in 1847, after Texas won its independence from Mexico. It was named after Dr. Thomas Hernando DeSoto Stewart, and is one of the oldest developments in the state. The area was mostly agricultural until after World War II. 

Desoto incorporated in 1949 in order to obtain a better water distribution system. Today the city is primarily residential, commercial, and industrial.

You can have an elegant wedding at Thorntree Country Club, or at the MCM Grande Hotel, which offers full banquet service and complete set up and tear down of your decorations, so you can relax and enjoy your big day. 

You can get your marriage license at the Dallas County Clerk's office. If you take a pre-approved marital counseling course, the license fee is waived and you only pay a clerk fee.

If you have time, you can go bowling at AMF Desoto Lanes, or play tennis and golf at the Thorntree Country Club.
