Farmers Branch is a city that is located in Dallas County, Texas with a population of nearly 29,000 residents.  The city is 12 square miles in area.

The area that is now Farmers Branch was first settled in the early 1850's.  The community was originally called Mustang Branch but was later changed to Farmers Branch by William Cochran to reflect the rich soil and farmland of the area.  By 1890 the community had a population of around 100 with a few businesses.  By the early 1900's the population had grown to 300 and a school building was constructed in 1916.   

The city was incorporated on February 23, 1946 and William Dodson was the first mayor.  In 1950 the population was 915, but due to rapid growth, it had grown to 13,441 by 1960.  The city is now home to a large variety of businesses.
