Addison is a city that is located in Dallas County, Texas with a population of approximately 13,500 residents.  It is a suburb of Dallas.  Although Addison calls itself the "Town of Addison," it is incorporated as a city.  The city is 4.4 square miles in total area.

What is now Addison was settled in 1846 when a house was built near White Rock Creek by Preston Witt.  In 1902 the community was given the name of Addison after Addison Robertson, the postmaster from 1908 though 1916.  Addison was incorporated in June of 1953 and the first mayor was M.W. Morris.  Even though Addison was incorporated as a city, the name was changed to "Town of Addison" in 1982.
