Mesquite is a city located in Dallas County, Texas. It borders Garland to the North and Balch Springs to the South. Mesquite covers an area of about 46.2 square miles and was incorporated in 1887.

The city of Mesquite was founded in 1874 and was known as a farming town which grew cotton, hay and corn among other crops. Like many other towns across the US, Mesquite grew rapidly with the end of World War II.
