San Marcos is a suburb located in the North County section of San Diego County. It covers an area of 24.4 miles and it has a population of over 83,000 people. San Marcos borders Escondido to the East, Vista to the Northwest, Encinitas to the Southwest and Carlsbad to the West.

San Marcos was discovered by the Spanish while they were chasing a small band of Indians who had robbed the San Luis Rey Mission Flocks in late 18^th Century. The Spaniards came upon fertile land which they named Los Vallecitos de San Marcos, which is translated to mean Little Valleys of Saint Mark.

People started settling in San Marcos in 1887 after the San Marcos Land Company bought all of San Marcos and subdivided it. This attracted home seekers into the area.

Presently, San Marcos is known for having some of the best restaurants in the North County region. Endowed with parks, golf courses, many open spaces, biking facilities all over the city and parks for recreation, San Marcos is a great place for a wedding.
