Chula Vista, which means beautiful view, is located in San Diego County. It is the seventh largest city in Southern California, situated 7 miles from downtown San Diego and 7 miles from the Mexican border. The Kumeyaay tribe initially inhabited the area.

Chula Vista was part of the 1795 land grant known as Rancho del Rey. The Sweetwater Dam was completed in 1888, which provided irrigation for farming. At one point in time, Chula Vista was the world's largest lemon growing center.

The city is home to one of the only United States Olympic Training Centers that is open year-round.
