San Diego is a city located in San Diego County, California. San Diego is the 8^th largest city in America and it is also the 2^nd largest in the state of California. Immediately adjacent to the Mexican border, it covers an area of about 372.4 miles.

Original inhabitants of San Diego were the San Dieguito and La Jolla people. The first European was Portuguese Juan Rodriguez in 1542. San Diego was part of Mexico in 1821 but became part of the United States after the Mexican-American war. The US Navy presence which began in 1901 has since become a major hub of defense and military activities. 

San Diego is the economic center of San Diego Carlsbad San Marcos metropolitan area. It is known for its pristine beaches as well as its natural deep water harbor. Millions of people from all over the world go to San Diego to enjoy its mild year round climate, boosting tourism in the city.

San Diego has many famous residents. Some of them include actress Cameron Diaz, professional football player Reggie Bush and actor Nick Cannon just to name a few.
