Encinitas is a coastal beach city located in San Diego County, California. It is about 25 miles north of San Diego and about 95 miles south of Los Angeles.  It has a population of approximately 59,500 and growing.  The city is known for its surf scene and mild climate.  The single largest industry in Encinitas is growing poinsettias and other ornamental flowers.

Encinitas is 20.0 square miles in area and it's elevation ranges from sea level to 180 meters above sea level.  Encinitas is surrounded by Batiquitos  and San Elijo Lagoons to the north and south.  The climate is very mild with an average daily high of 72 degrees.

There are many things to see and do in Encinitas.  There is the annual Fall Festival which was formerly known as the Poinsettia Festival which is held in downtown Encinitas each year in November and the Wavecrest Woodie Meet which happens on the third Saturday of September at Moonlight State Beach.  If you are looking for places to visit, you can check out the San Dieguito Heritage Museum or the historic La Paloma Theater.
