Lemon Grove is a city that is located in San Diego County, California. This city covers a total area of approximately 3.9 miles and has a population of around 25, 000 people. Lemon Grove acquired its name in the 1900s when large citrus groves were planted in the city. In this period, lemons and oranges were the major industry in the area.

The first known settler in Lemon Grove was sheep rancher Robert Allison in 1869. Between the years of 1860-1900, Lemon Grove was known for its poultry and sheep ranching as well as vegetable crops.

In the year 1931, there was a famous boycott called the Lemon Grove Incident, where parents of Mexican American children refused to send their children to the alternative school that had been built for them. The boycott resulted in the first court ordered school desegregation in America.
