Santee is a suburban city located in San Diego County, California and has a population of approximately 53,500 residents.  Santee is just 18 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The area was originally inhabited by the Kumeyaay Indians who established a village on the banks of the San Diego River.  

Santee was incorporated as a city in 1980.  Since its incorporation it has grown and matured and is no longer just a bedroom community.  It is now the home of many major commercial centers and has a business community that employees over 17,000 people.  There are also significant recreational opportunities in Santee.
