Woodinville City is located in King County. It is situated along the Sammamish River and is home to numerous waterfront parks, wineries, and breweries. The city was incorporated on March 31, 1993.

The area was originally inhabited by the Sammamish Native Americans. The first white settlers were Ira and Susan Woodin, who arrived in 1871. Their log cabin became the center of town and later served as the first schoolhouse and post office.

Woodinville's economy was dependent on logging and farming until after World War II.

Today the city's economy is based on a mix of retail, light industrial businesses, and tourism. Woodinville is home to Columbia Winery, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Redhook Ale Brewery, and the nationally recognized garden center, Mobak's Garden and Home.
