Miami is a world famous city in Miami Dade County, Florida. It is the county seat of Miami Dade County, the most populous county in Florida. It covers an area of 55.2 square miles and has been ranked as the cleanest city in the United States.

Miami was incorporated as a city in 1896 and had a population of about 300 people then. It grew slowly but it went on to experience rapid growth during World War II. It played a crucial role in fighting German submarines and the soldiers who went there for the war helped in increasing the growth and population of the city.

Miami is the only city in the US to be conceived by a woman. Julia Tuttle, a wealthy citrus grower from Cleveland played such a huge role in the city being conceived that she was called the mother of Miami. Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s rise to power saw people leave Cuba and many of them found their way to Miami. The city of Miami has a large concentration of Cuban Americans as a result.

Presently, Miami is home to the largest concentration of International banks in America and it is also known as the cruise capital of the world. It is an alpha city and is known for fashion, education, culture, commerce and finance.
