Pinecrest Village

Pinecrest Village is located in Miami-Dade County. It is 7.6 square miles.

The land was used as a staging area by Henry Flagler during the construction of the Overseas Railroad. Pinecrest was home to Parrot Jungle, which was one of the first tourist attractions in the Miami area. It was created in 1936 Franz and Louise Scherr, who wanted a place where birds could "fly free".

Pinecrest Village purchased the attraction in 2002 and developed the land into Pinecrest Gardens, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Parrot Jungle has since been moved to the Miami area and re-named Parrot Jungle Island.

We found resources in Pinecrest to help you find some essentials on your wedding checklist including wedding venues, flowers, and caterers. The floral department at Whole Foods Market is an economic way to find bouquets for rehearsal dinners and bridal showers. You can have your reception on the Lakeview Terrace at Paradise Gardens, or in its large meadow, which is perfect for open air weddings.

Make sure you take some time to tour the grounds of Paradise Gardens, which have over 1000 types of rare exotic plants and 14 acres of land featuring natural streams, sinkholes, and caves. The gardens also have a petting zoo and a butterfly exhibit.
