North Miami is a city that is located in Miami Dade County, Florida. This suburban city covers an area of about 10 square miles and is the 4^th largest city in the county. It borders Pinewood to the South, North Miami Beach to the North, Westview to the West and Biscayne Bay, Bay Harbor Islands and Sunny Isles Beach to the East.

North Miami was incorporated as a town in 1926. It was then known as Town of Miami Shores. However, It was not until after World War II that the city experienced rapid growth. There was an influx of former military veterans and their families, which spurred growth with the building of houses, roads and people starting businesses.  

Presently, North Miami is known for being home to Oleta River State Park, which is the largest urban park in the State of Florida. The city is also notable for being home to a high number of Haitian Americans.
