Elk Grove Village is located in Cook County. It is 10.5 square miles, and was incorporated in 1956. It got the name Elk Grove Village when early settlers mispronounced the Native American name for the area; however, the town is actually home to a small herd of elk which is kept in a grove in the Busse Woods Forest Preserve. The first elk were brought to the area in the 1920's.
The land was originally used for farming by German immigrants. The Busse Farm is the last undeveloped agricultural property in the area.
Elk Grove Village has the largest industrial park in the United States, which is located adjacent to O'Hare International Airport. It is 5.4 square miles and home to over 3,600 businesses.
We found a variety of resources in the village to help you with your wedding planning. Elk Grove Village has vendors for wedding cakes, entertainment, bouquets, photographers, and other wedding necessities. You can find different types of cakes at Jarosch Bakery, including options for both modern and traditional styles. The bakery is also willing to create your custom cake from a drawing or picture if you do not find exactly what you want in their portfolio.
When in Elk Grove Village, make sure to visit the Elk Grove Farmhouse Museum, which is the oldest farmhouse in town. It is restored to show what pioneer life was like in the 19th century.
