Arlington Heights Village is located in Cook County and is 16.4 square miles. It is 25 miles from downtown Chicago. The city was an early commuter suburb for Chicago and was incorporated in 1887. Arlington Heights boasts the Arlington Park Race Track and the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, which has one of the largest book collections in Illinois.

Notable natives of Arlington Heights include actress Jennifer Morrison and producer Jim Michaels. The city was also used as a location for the 2010 remake of "A Nightmare on Elm Street".
