Wheeling Village is located primarily in Cook County, with a small part being in Lake County. It is 8.4 square miles. The city began as an overnight stop for travelers who were on their way into Wisconsin territory. Wheeling's renowned "Restaurant Row" began in the 1830's as a strip of taverns, inns, and eateries.

The land in Wheeling was fertile and eventually farmers started exporting their crops. The village was known for its landscape nurseries until the manufacturing boom in the 1960's. 

Notable people born in Wheeling include actor John Francis Daley and singer Haley Reinhart.

Keep in mind that the winters in Wheeling can be very cold and snowy. The amount of precipitation is spread evenly throughout the year, with autumn being the most pleasant season for an outdoor ceremony.
