Sauk Village is a village that is located in Cook County, Illinois with a small parcel located in Will County, Illinois. It's population is approximately 10,500 residents. Sauk Village is 3.8 square miles in total area and stands on the Tinley Moraine. The Glenwood Shoreline cuts right through the village.
The area that is now Sauk Village was a center of activity for hundreds of years. Even though the Illinois Confederation and Potawatomi tribes were native to the area, the Sauk, which were from Michigan, became the namesake for the Sauk Trail.
The village was incorporated in March of 1957 and has undergone considerable change and expansion since then. Construction came to a virtual halt in the mid 1960's but but by the early 1970's development began again. During the 1980's the area continued to expand with the addition of homes and new subdivisions.
