Midlothian Village is located in Cook County. It was founded when a group of wealthy businessmen, who were attracted to the quiet, rolling hills, petitioned for a track to be built to the village in order to get to their refuge as quickly as possible.
Midlothian is home to The Midlothian Country Club, which was founded in 1898, and named after Sir Walter Scott's book, The Heart of Midlothian. The club was one of the first golf clubs in the United States and hosted the U.S. Open in 1914. It is still considered a prestigious course.
