Schaumburg Village is located in Cook County and is part of the Golden Corridor. It was incorporated on March 7, 1956. The city is surrounded by Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, and Streamwood.
The area was originally home to the Fox, Sauk, Kickapoo, and Potawatomi tribes until German settlers began to arrive in the 19th century. Schaumburg remained under almost exclusive ownership by the Germans until the Great Depression, although German remained the first language of most households in the city until the 1950's.
