Maywood Village is located in the Proviso Township in Cook County. It was founded on April 6, 1869 and is 12.7 square miles.
During World War II, Maywood became home to the 33rd Tank Company. On November 25, 1940, 122 men from the company were sent on active duty to the Philippine Islands as part of the 192nd Tank Battalion. Only 41 of the men returned to Maywood alive. Every year the city holds the Bataan Day Parade in honor of those lost.
